We have been learning about different types of batteries that can be used with FrSky Taranis X9D Transmitter in the last few articles. We have learned the different aspects of Li-ion, Li-po, Li-fe, Ni-Mh batteries and saw how they dominate over each other under different circumstances.

So, in this article, I wanted to list a few batteries of different brands that are very popular and suitable for FrSky Taranis X9D Transmitter. In Fact, some of these batteries are specifically made for Taranis X9d and X9d Plus radios. Cool, Isn't it? However, we are not specifically listing the same types of batteries, But different kind of batteries that we have gone through in the last few articles.

Although these batteries are very popular and marked their reputation in the industry for performance and quality, it may not be the same for everyone. So I would recommend you try a few different brands and different types of batteries so that you can test and see which one is best suited for your scenario.

There is one more point to be noted before getting started. The batteries listed in the article are from reputed and well-known hobby stores over the globe, But they all might not be able to ship to your country because batteries are considered to be dangerous and hence the available shipping methods may not be accepting them.

In that case, I would recommend you to check with the Local Hobby stores in your country to see if they have those batteries in stock. If not, try with some other International Hobby stores that stock these batteries and at the same time who can ship to your country.

Finally, one more thing to keep in mind, not all the batteries can fit into the FrSky Taranis X9D transmitter. The size of the battery compartment of Taranis X9d is small and only some batteries can flawlessly fit into it. Don’t worry, all the batteries that is listed in these articles are perfectly suited to fit into the Taranis X9D Plus. So let's get started!

FrSky 2000mAh 7.2v Ni-Mh

This is the stock battery that comes with the FrSky Taranis X9d Transmitter. It is a Ni-MH battery that has 9v when fully charged. These are actually good batteries that fit perfectly on the back of your X9d radio. But, its performance and charge holding capacity will be drastically reduced after a few months.

If you are looking for some cheap batteries to power you Taranis X9d Plus, then it is good. Please note that after the performance of the battery is degraded, you would only get around 3 or 4 hours, of operating time. I wouldn’t recommend you to get this battery if you are looking to get rid of the old Ni-Mh battery in your radio for two reasons.

  1. After a few months or maybe after a year, the performance will drop drastically and it will heat up a lot when you charge it. It will be risky to charge it while the battery is inside the Transmitter using the charger that came with the transmitter when you bought it.
  2. Better alternatives like Li-Po or Li-Fe batteries available for similar prices.

Moreover, there is one thing we need to consider before comparing it with Lipo or any other similar battery, You don’t have to balance charge this battery. It is very comfortable and easy to charge the battery by directly plugging the charger to the transmitter. You will get around 4-6 hours of backup with this battery.

However, you cannot charge a Li-Po or Li-ion through the transmitter as it requires balance charging. Even though, I would only recommend these if it is going to be a Backup battery for your Transmitter. They are great to keep as Backups, but not reliable as a main battery pack for the FrSky Taranis X9D Transmitter.

So these are replacement batteries for the stock Ni-Mh battery that comes with your radio and you can purchase it for around 15$ which is pretty cheap as well. But keep in mind that, if you need more backup than you are currently getting with this battery, then move on.

We have seen some of the advantages and disadvantages of the FrSky Stock Ni-Mh 2000mah battery that specifically manufactured for FrSky Taranis X9D Transmitter. This battery will give a decent backup time of 4-6 hours, But please keep in mind that, it will drop after a few months of usage. However, it has the advantage that you can charge it through the Transmitter.

So you can decide if you can go to this battery depending on your need. I hope this article has helped you to know more about the replacement battery made for FrSky Taranis X9D Transmitter. We will be covering more batteries in the upcoming articles. Stay Tuned!
