TFR6A FrSky / FrSky TFR6 Receiver.  In this TFR6A FrSky review we will check the characteristics and features of the TFR6A receiver and FrSky TFR6 receiver, which are a 7 PWM channel receivers. They are compatible with the following modules: 6EX, 7C, TM-7, TM-8, T8FG, T10C, TM-10, T10CG, T12Z, T12FG, TM-14, T14MZ, etc. This means that the TFR6A and TFR6 receivers can be bound to any of these modules. They have a medium size and weight for any aircraft (Dimensions: 37 x 22 x 8mm (L×W×H) & Weight: 7.8g).

The TFR6A FrSky and FrSky TFR6 receiver are also compatible with all Futaba FASST series radios, providing also 7 high quality channel outputs for this radio system.  The receiver settings of the TFR6A receiver and FrSky TFR6 receiver will also allow you to switch between two selectable failsafe options, the first failsafe mode consists of setting the failsafe positions for each channel with your transmitter, and the second option is to set the failsafe directly in the receiver, as any of the channels do support the failsafe function.

The main difference between both TFR6A FrSky and FrSky TFR6 receiver is on its design, while the TFR6 receiver has built in vertical signal output pins, while the FrSky FTR6A receiver has channel output end pins, which in some builds may provide a more compact design that is very useful when installing it on the aircraft.

 

FEATURES

The TFR6A FrSky and FrSky TFR6 receiver have a lighter weight, 7.8g, and are smaller, 37 x 22 x 8mm (L×W×H), than other previous models. And as I have already mentioned, these receivers have two selectable failsafe setting options amongst its 7 PWM channels. Both can work with an operating voltage range between 3.5V up to 10V, almost as any other receiver. And its operating temperature range goes from -10°C up to 80°C, making it a very good choice for extreme conditions.

SETUP

BIND PROCEDURE: To bind the TFR6A FrSky and FrSky TFR6 receiver models is very easy. Start by turning on the radio system and make sure that it is in bind mode, then, you will have to connect the receiver to a power supply in the voltage range that we have already mentioned, while pressing the receiver’s F/S button, this power supply can be for example a battery, or a flight controller BEC. At this point, first, the red LED will be turned on, but, when this led turns off and the green LED is solid, the binding process is completed, and now you can use the receiver.

SETTING FAILSAFE:

As we mentioned before, both, the TFR6A FrSky and FrSky TFR6 TFR6 support two selectable failsafe setting options, the first one is the one which uses native failsafe position preset from the transmitter side, and the second one is the one that is set directly on the receiver.

In more detail, the first failsafe setting which uses the native position preset on the transmitter will be activated if the failsafe on the transmitter side is not disabled, while, if you do set failsafe on, on the receiver, this function will work for all channels, and, in order to activate it you have to follow the next steps so that you will get your failsafe on the receiver working.

First, bind the TFR6A FrSky or FrSky TFR6 receiver following the steps of the binding procedure above, after doing that, go and disable the failsafe function on the transmitter side. Then, you will have to set all transmitter controls in the desired position that you want the receiver to hold them when there is a failsafe. Finally, to save the configuration desired, short press the F/S button of the receiver.

And once the green LED in the receiver has flashed two times, you are done, because this will indicate you that the failsafe has been successfully settled. If you want to clear the failsafe configuration you have saved, and for whatever reason you don’t want the failsafe anymore, you can erase it just by binding the receiver again, this will clear the configuration and the default failsafe mode will be settled down again.

CONCLUSION

Both, TFR6A FrSky and FrSky TFR6 receiver are very simple and easy to use receivers which are adequate to almost any aircraft. Because you can select between both models, these receivers can be installed wherever you need them to be installed, and with the 7 channels compatible with Futaba FASST, these receivers became a great choice for users.
