I have this in a E-Flite 1.2m T-28 for use with my X18S. Works great and I'm using all 8 channels (plus 9, 10 and 12 for stabilization functions). I use the stabilization when it's gusty. Channels are AETR, 5 is flaps, 6 is retracts, 7 is nose wheel steering so I can trim without effecting rudder, 8 is nose retract since it's a replacement which retracts opposite the E-Flite mains, so reversed channel 8 for that. Love the flexibility of extra channels!

I use this excellent receiver with my HORUS X12S. I use the S8R Receiver in my gliders only in stabilisation mode in "Quickmodus".

It's an excellent receiver, it works flawlessly with my Taranis X9D on Open TX 2.1.9.
When using the stabilization it works as an 8 channel receiver, but will use 12 channels internally to access the different settings and modes from the transmitter. Because of that, don't forget to bind the receiver in D16 mode with at least 12 channels active, or it will not work.
The stabilization system works well but can be somewhat tricky to setup. the Frsky manual is a bit short about the settings and I strongly recommend to read the RC Group thread dedicated to this receiver.
The FrSky STK Tool (https://www.horusrc.com/en/frsky-stk.html) is also needed to configure this receiver and eventually upgrade its firmware.
